Beginning Therapy

We will have an initial phone call, so you can tell me what brings you to therapy.

We will then have our first session together, this is free and allows us to understand if we want to work together.

Therapy is a unique relationship and works when there is a sense of trust and safety between us.

After this session, we will let ourselves reflect on our first experience together for a couple of days.

If we both feel we can proceed, the next step is your assessment. This is the only time you’ll see me take notes. I will ask background questions that help me get a sense of where you are.

Now our work begins fully.

The Therapeutic Journey

I have found it helpful to meet once a week, at the same time if possible. If you are on a shift schedule, then we will work to make it happen around your needs.

Your journey will take as long as you need. There is no typical time frame, each persons’ journey is unique. We will work together at your pace, exploring where you want to go.

My only agenda is you, your journey and your wellbeing.

The work does not only happen when we are in the room together. It is between sessions that change happens. As you reflect, ponder, wonder, dream and notice yourself and others as you have not seen before. Your unconscious becoming conscious.

There will be times you might feel stuck on your journey, whether, sad, angry, ashamed and even happy, all of which will stir things up in you.

Your journey is yours only, no one treads the same path.

Ending Therapy

To end is to begin again, and it is a pivotal part of your journey.

Many of us experienced painful endings in our lives.

We will draw gently to a close when you feel it is time.

If you need to end for any reason before we had hoped, I just ask for one final session to allow us to leave thoughtfully.
